Course Description:
Open treatments are popular on canvas but planning sequences that conceal the traveling paths can be challenging. Ann has been designing open patterns for thirty years and this notebook will cover a variety of manipulations that accomplish this goal. Complete instructions for a band sampler that illustrates specific situations will be included but students may provide their own materials or purchase a complete kit.
Pre-work: The charted outlines for the sampler (Mirrored Milanese units) must be placed before class. Estimated time: 4-6 hours.
Kit Contents: Pearl Cotton, cotton floss, Coronet braid (3 weights), Very Velvet, Sparkle Rays, Neon Rays + and Mill Hill beads.
Student Supplies: Only the 13" X 18"or 15" x 18" stretcher bars and the usual stitching accessories.
Color Choice: Green canvas and threads may be substituted for the blue. All kits will have the red, coral and gold threads. Students may also provide their own threads and canvas for alternative color choices.
